Saturday 27 August, Rugby Academy Zuid West played a match against Welsh side Colwyn Bay RFC, as part of the Haagsche Rugby Dagen.

Match report:

A very tight hard fought game against a very well drilled Colwyn Bay touring side was played in front of a large crowd attending the Hague rugby days 2016 .

Colwyn bay were a very strong together team with 5 individual players attending the RGC , North Wales rugby devolvement team sponsored and run by the WRU (Welsh Rugby Union)

Zuid West Academy with players from various clubs throughout the Zuid West of Holland only coming together as individual players for training sessions four days a week and very rarely playing as a team

The game was played in 4 x 20 min half’s due to the heat, Colwyn Bay scoring the first points and showing that they were a very well trained team in some very good open rugby. The Zuid West Academy players not having a great deal of time together as a team reacted well and soon after, Captain of the day Wolf van Dijk (Rotterdam RC), scored with an outstanding individual try which started from deep inside the academy’s own half after a poor line clearance from Colwyn Bay .
